Slack AI Writer
October 23, 2026

Slack AI Writer is here! Mention @ReadMe in a thread where your team is already talking through a change, and it drafts the docs update as a branch you can review before anything goes live. It’s in beta and ready to connect from your project’s Integrations settings page.
New Features & Improvements
Integrations
- GitHub and Slack now each have their own page under Settings > Integrations, where you can also connect your own Slack for personal notifications and manage channel updates.
- [Beta] Mention the ReadMe app in a Slack thread and the AI Writer drafts the docs changes on a new branch for you to review. Connect a workspace from Settings > Integrations > Slack on Pro plans and above.
- [Beta] The Slack page lets admins choose which projects the Slack AI Writer works in and whether it can merge or delete branches. Enterprise groups manage it from Integrations in the Enterprise dashboard.
AI
- When an API call made through MCP fails in a way that contradicts your API reference, the agent now files it through Send Feedback without waiting to be asked.
Editor
- Every list item, including nested ones, now has its own block menu handle, so you can drag, copy, or delete a single item.
- Merging a branch now deletes it by default, and the merge dialog remembers your choice (deleted branches can be restored for up to 7 days).
Docs
- A new Angled table of contents style is available in the Theme Editor, alongside Line and Dots.
- Changelog posts can now use Reusable Content and custom components, which also render in the changelog list and RSS feed.
- Favicons are now generated in every size from your full-resolution upload, so they stay sharp in high-DPI tabs and search results, and docs saved to a phone home screen get an icon.
- The deprecated version banner now takes readers to the same page in the default version.
Enterprise
- Teammate and end user invites can now be set to expire after 30, 60, or 90 days, or never. Invites default to 30 days, invite lists show each invite’s expiry, and invites can be resent individually or in bulk with a new expiry.
- Enterprise Analytics now include the Group Landing Page, with its own entry in the Projects filter and CSV export.
- Admins approving a teammate access request can now choose the Viewer, Editor, or Admin role.
Translations
- Translated pages keep their source headings’ anchors, so links like
#prerequisitesland on the right heading in every language, and the editor keeps those anchors when you save. - Translation status for an enterprise group now shows each project's progress separately, with Global Content in its own section.
Bugs Eaten (by Owlbert) 🐛
Editor
- Leaving a new page without saving now takes you to view mode instead of a blank screen.
- Opening a page from admin search or the in-app search now scrolls the editor sidebar to it and expands its parent categories and pages.
- Collapsing and expanding categories in the Pages panel no longer leaves overlapping duplicate rows behind.
- The block menu now lists Reusable Content on projects with many custom components, and the Reusable Content page usage menu no longer overlaps other elements.
- Recipes can now be reverted from the branch review sidebar, and accordions and tabs in the rendered review diff stay in their column when clicked.
Docs
- Discussion pages now load more reliably instead of intermittently showing an error page.
API Reference
- OAuth Configuration Options added to an API definition now take effect in the API Explorer right away, even for security schemes saved during earlier tests.
Git Sync
- New version branches pushed from your repository through bi-directional sync now show up as hidden versions in ReadMe.
- Frontmatter with unquoted values containing a colon, like
description: GET → 404 ? POST : PATCH, now parses in Git Sync and the CLI.
Admin
- When your session expires while editing, you're now sent to log in instead of seeing failed saves.
- Page Views can now be filtered and exported by several emails at once, and the Analytics filter bar stays in place when you search.
AI
- Ask AI analytics date ranges now include today’s questions in every time zone.
Translations
- The editor’s translation status now updates live during a language’s first AI translation run.
CLI
oas:syncno longer creates empty category pages for tags whose endpoint pages live in other folders.
